Subject: cant find goggles that fit?
I have the Aquashpere Kayenne's and they leak bad. I went to Sports Authority today to try on some other pairs. Everything I tried on wont fit. I have a oval shaped head. The goggles wont fit under my eyebrows. I tried about 7 different pairs. I even tried kids goggles. The only pair that would stick were the Aquasphere Seals... But they felt like I was wearing scuba goggles.

Oh.. I am talking about OWS googles.

I have a pair of Speedo pool goggles that are ok, but I would like OW goggles.

Any suggestions??

Zoggs Predator Flex, if they dont fit nothing will.

I think they are pretty newish.  They are flexible at the nose piece so the lenses can tilt up or dont or even twist if needed. They are very comfortable and have great vision.
I think they only come with mirrored lenses though.

Why do you want "OWS goggles"?  Many of us use traditional goggles that fit in your eye socket, such as swedes or Vanquishers.

I've got agree with this.  I use the same goggles in both the pool and open water.

Wear the Seals. If these are the only ones that won't leak, you should use them even if it feels like your wearing a scuba mask.  It won't be better to wear smaller goggles if they fill up with water.  I have a similar issue.  Most goggles don't fit me well and the ones I use have to be pressed into my face to stay sealed.  Raccoon eyes are standard for me.

Oh, and I have goggles for pool workouts and for racing.  I want to make sure that I get the best seal I can and that if I get hit, I won't lose my goggles.  I used the Seals one year, but then Aquashere came out with the Seal XP and those work great.  Lower profile than the Seals, and the flange fits up under the swim cap( I wear my goggles under my cap).

I  found out yesterday at the oly I did in the rain that I need a pair of clear lens, so I may look at the Vista when I go goggle shopping.

I wear the same goggles in a pool or OWS...so I agree, is there a reason you feel you specifically need OWS goggles? If not wear the Speedo ones that fit.

I was wanting the OWS goggles for the greater range of sighting. Im new to triathlon though, so maybe I dont need them? I just thought that I was supposed to use OWS for OWS and pool for pool?

Im not sure if the Seals will leak or not. I went to the store and put them on my face to see if they would stick or not. They were the only ones that did.

Thanks for the advice.

Buying goggles because a friend recommended them is like buying a lottery ticket.  You may pick a winner, but the odds are against it.  You did the right thing going to a store that had a bunch of different kinds and seeing if they stick to your face.  Anything else is little better than random.

So what would you suggest? I would really like to find a pair of OWS. I just like the increased sighting in them. Every store I go to in my area all have the same goggles that dont fit me.

The Seals were the only ones that sealed on my face.. but they were huge..

I swear by Swedes; been wearing them throughout my swimming career.

They were designed for pool racing I suppose, but they are VERY cheap, very easy to fit/adjust, hold up for a while, and despite the looks, they are extremely comfortable. I've worn them in OWS races with now problem.

Unless you can find another kind that doesn't leak, use the Seals.  A comfortable, leak-free fit is going to be more valuable for training and racing than any other factors.

I'm so glad somebody asked this question!!  I had the Seals and loved them (both in the pool and in open water) but they embarrassed my 17 year old daughter so I tried to switch to the Kayenne.  They have been nothing but trouble -- leaking constantly so that my contact lenses float and not very comfortable.  I lifeguarded an Olympic distance race today and lots of folks were wearing the Seals, so I'm going to quit worrying about what anybody thinks and go back to what worked for me.
