Who's racing in Santa Fe on 7/17?

I think I'll be there if I can heal up my road rash and get back in the pool.  Anybody raced it before?

I see it's a reverse which is a little surprising for this time of year.

What's the course like?

I'm racing!

It's my first time for this course - so, I can't tell you what to expect.
My friend raced it last year and said he had a lot of fun... if that helps any.

I'm sure it's set up as a reverse to thin out the field for the pool swim...

Have an awesome race guys!  Good luck to you.  If you see me be sure to say hi.  I'll be wearing a bright yellow, sleeveless tri top that says FCA Endurance.

Oh yeah...if you're hanging out by the pool after you've finished the race and you see me flailing, please throw me a life preserver.

trinity,

Good luck to you too!

I'll keep an eye out for you...
I'll look like 90% of the other racers in my black tri-shorts and black/gray/yellow sleeveless tri-top.

Good luck to you guys tomorrow.   Have a great race.

Don't mind me too much I'm just lurking in here 'cause I miss NM.  Also I've been dying for some good tamales and guacamole and lurking here is the closest I can get.

Hey Steve it looks like you did great!  Hope you had fun and welcome to the addiction.

I had an average race...I did as well as I expected to but not as good as I had hoped.

It was a fun race and I would definitely do it again.

Next up for me is the Chile Harvest Tri in Socorro...who's in?

Rocktractor - I'm sure we'll meet up another time.

Fantastic race....great time! Grats on the podium!

Do you think I could borrow some of your bike speed?  that was an awesome bike split.

As I was racing I saw at least 2 other FCA Endurance tri tops and pictured you guys going up to one of them and asking if they were me.

So I ask again...who's in for the Chile Harvest Tri?  It's another great semi-local event but it's not a reverse.  The bike leg is similar to Santa Fe with rolling hills but starts out with a pretty decent climb out of transition.  The swim is in a 50 meter outdoor pool.

Trinity,

Thanks!

I'm undecided on the Chile Harvest Tri. I have had a hectic summer and really wouldn't mind just having a few weekends with nothing to do.

How does the pool seeding work?

You have to give them your estimated 400 meter swim time and that is how it is seeded.  I noticed last year that there were a few people who overestimated their times.  I think I passed about 7-10 people.  I estimated my time at 7:30 and wound up swimming 7:48 which included climbing out of the pool and crossing the timing mat about 20 feet away from the pool.

I thought the Santa Fe triathlon was well run and managed.  I was really impressed with the support the law enforcement and paramedics provided to help with the event.  It takes a world of work to get communities to agree to close a street, but Santa Fe did it very well.

The Chili Harvest is an awesome race, one of my favorites in NM.
