Plenty of people head to TOBAY and swim on the bay side for OWS practice.  Several nights you can find others there around 6pm.

I swim at Centre Island Beach in Bayville, or on the Sound side of Bayville (no-name beach, just a neighborhood beach), depending on the weather/wind. On any given day, one of these beaches will have wind/waves/seaweed in the water, so I just go to the other one, which will be clear. Nice water, clean beaches, hardly any people! But you need to have a Town of Oyster Bay park sticker to get into Centre Island or the beaches on the western end of Bayville. You can get it at the kiosk when you go in. They are starting to charge/check for stickers this weekend.

I once ran into some triathletes who said they meet every Saturday at 7 am at Centre Island beach. I'm always biking at that time so have never been there then, but they were nice folks.

Is the group that swims at Tobay really experienced and fast? I'm a decent swimmer, but I have no OWS experience. I'd love to join a group, but I wouldn't want to slow anyone down or get left behind :-)

I want to add Corey Beach in Blue Point.  Go early or late.  What is nice is that you have a little fear of open water, you can stand in certain sections.  Its on the GSB.

Will you be swimming there next week, if so I'd love to get  a few open water swims in, my pool is closed.  Do you know if people regularly swim there?

Do you know the distance of the sectioned off swim area at Corey Beach.  I emailed a lifeguard and they said 300 feet, it seemed farther than that.  Just curious if you know or agree.

Thanks

My Pool is closed as well (Eisenhower and Hofstra) this weekend and I was wondering if anyone was doing OW swims or could recommend a pool for me to try out.  I am right by the parkway and live 10 mins within these pools.  I am not a relatively fast swimmer, but I would be up for an easy 1-2 miles (45-60 min).  email me if interested [email protected]
