My name is Tina and I'm from Tunbridge Wells in Kent, U.K.

I decided to become a triathlete about a year ago when I realised that if I didn't take drastic action I would always be fat and unfit.
Last year I completed 2 Try-a-Tri's and I'm hooked. I joined a very friendly tri club who have given me some great coaching. I 've lost about 30lbs in weight and I've got another 30lb's to go. My very first sprint distance tri is on April 25th with another on 9th May. I've also signed up for the London to Paris bike ride - that's about 300 miles over 4 days - you arrive in Paris just before the official Tour de France ends giving me a chance to hopefully watch Lance Armstrong make history.

Thank you for this inspirational site.

Welcome aboard Tina;
You certainly have some beautiful countryside down there in Kent to be training in. As long as you can't see the M2 and the Channel Tunnel Rail line

Welcome to the site.  The ride from London to Paris sounds cool.  For me, to ride to Paris is only about 130 miles - of course I'd be riding to Paris, TX.  When you see Lance, ask him about it - I'm sure he's been there.

Good luck with your training - sounds like you've already got some skins on your wall, so you should do great!

Welcome, Tina and congrats on all the great things you've done so far. Hmmmm, London to Paris eh? Sounds like the ride of a lifetime! I might have to do a road (ocean) trip!

Good luck training!

A London-to-Paris bike ride!!!! What a treat! My husband and I did a much less metro-chic 500-mile bike ride last summer. (Think Illinois cornfields!) It was fabulous. Something strange happens in your brain, where you start to think, "Okay... this is just what I do. I get up in the morning, eat breakfast, and get on my bike for 8 hours, 6 days in a row." If only that WERE my job!!!!!

But, the bottom line, is that if I can do it, trust me, anyone can do it! Let us know how the training is going!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and I will certainly keep you informed about my training and the actual trip. So far I am up to 35 miles for my long Sunday ride.

Hi - welcome. Well you have plenty of nice areas to train around there – if the nutters on the country lanes don’t get you!!

I used to live just down the Road in East Grinstead and traveled to TW when the wife dragged me there. Plenty of hill training opportunities around there!! Good luck witht the training! (Personally I’d take the train to paris but there’s no accounting for taste )

Hi Mike,

It is East Grinstead Triathlon Club that I have joined. They really are so friendly and welcoming and their coaches for each of the disciplines are excellent!
Let me know if you ever come back over for a visit!
