Currently I'm using: GU (but I have to STOP my bike - put a foot on the ground - because I have to use the squirt and gulp water method as I CAN NOT STAND the texture.  It only takes me 20-30 sec to swallow a packet - but again, I have to STOP to do it).  Shot blocks, Fig newtons, gatorade, water and sometimes a PB&J sandwich.

These things are getting O-L-D old!  Any suggestions of yummy and nutritious foods?

Come on ideas!

x2! I started using Infinite in preparation for my IM this fall and have fallen in love with it! Easy to carry, sip, rinse with water and repeat. Concentrate bottles as needed to eliminate carrying 5 or 6 bottles. Love it.

I do, however, still carry emergency gels with me in case I run out or am just tired of it.

x3. Have used it 3 times now and I love this stuff. I also, tend to carry a back up gel or 2.

x4.  Started using it a few months ago.  I don't love the flavor, so I mix it with a little gatorade and water instead of just water.  Easy to sip and go.  If I feel the need for solid food, I can always pull out a fig newton, but the infinit really gives you everything you need.

EFS Drink and Liquid shot from www.Firstendurance.com.  The liquid shot acts like a gel, but closer to the consistency of water.

Make homemade drink mix with maltodextrin, electrolytes, and flavoring....similar concept to infinite but much cheaper. I think I can make three years of IM training and racing for about $90.

On the bike I use 22 grams per 20' and flavor with various things usually Strawberry Lemonade. One the run I use 15 grams an hour or use gels.

I like accelerade.  I use gels and twizzlers.  I cut the twizzlers in 1/2 and they fit nicely in a bento box and don't melt.  Plus they are yummy.  I have also used laffy taffy and mini air heads.  Really you need sugar.  It doens't have to be labeled a sportsd food to work

Sorry, I'm no help:  alternate GU gels and Shot Bloks.  For HIM and IM, I also carry one Luna Bar (Toasted Nut and Cranberry flavor) as a mid-ride treat.

I have used Infinit as well, but it does get a little expensive. I found that I could not choke down any solid foods while biking and dealing with gels was a pain in the rear. I also saw a guy in front of me get a 3 minute penalty for tossing his used gel wrapper during a half iron race. Find what works for you in training and don't try anything new on race day.

Currently using GU's, Endurolytes, water, and Gatorade. Haven't had any trouble yet in training so hoping to use the same in IMFL.

For what it's worth I don't have any trouble opening, eating, and putting the wrappers into my jersey with the Gu's all in aero position, it just takes some practice.

Either do I, I just HATE the consistency (sometimes, it makes me gag...) so I need two hands: one to squirt the gu into my mouth an one to squirt the water in immediately after!  BUT - they work great for me - no stomach issues and good fuel.  So I guess I have to deal.  Everything else I can totally eat in aero - but I usually use eating times to stretch out if I need to.

I'm going to try laughy taffys - good idea!

I found strawberry fig newtons - they should be yummy.

Great input everyone!

Disclosure - Firstendurance and PowerGel are part of our team and coaching our sponsors. Still, I like and use their products very much.

Gu Roctane, Accelerade, S! Caps.  If you don't like Gu, perhaps try the energy chews?  Gu Chomps, Powerbar Gel Blasts, or Clif Shot Bloks might be a better option for you to chew your gu.

I can't really take solids but may have a Luna bar handy.  Anything more than that is out.

I used a concentrated bottle of Perpetuluem and water in an aero bottle. It worked well for me.

Now if I could just figure out the run nutrition part... sigh.
