I work at a University Recreation center as a Grad assistant so my "work" days consist of training, work, class, training, little more work, class, training, and a little more work. Its all viewed as work or development though!

Any others out there as lucky as I am or have a job that revolves around the fitness industry?

I work at Canyon Ranch

luxury health resorts.

all staff has full access to all workout facilities, classes, lectures, stocked locker rooms.  it's nice not having to drive to a pool, but to be able to get in a quick mile at lunch at an immactulate near empty lap pool that's 100 ft from my office.

Not to mention access to a great staff of exercise physiologists (most of whom are marathoners, cyclists or triathetes), nutritionists, physical therapists, half price massages, etc.

so, basically, I need to make up other excuses.

How does one learn to do this?  I think it's something I would like to try, but I don't know any one who does any rowing.

How do I get an interview?  I'll be the doorman if that's the only opening!

Not sure how much it would fall under the "fitness related" category, but I think it's close enough, Firefighter. After finally deciding to start training for my first Tri, I realized just how lucky I am to have my schedule. Our shifts of 24 on/48 off help put in as much time as I need to train. While at work I have the station gym and a park next door to do all the running I need. The only downside to that is getting a call halfway through your run lol.. 6 weeks to go!

learning how to row, or coach it?

learning to row, find your local rowing team/club/boathouse and inquire about their learn to row program.

most high school teams also offer this.

what part of the country/city are you in?

Just checked out the Canyon Ranch web site and WOW. If there was one located in Texas I would be all over getting a job there.

Perks of a job like that make the salary so much sweeter. Who needs a great health insurance plan when you have high end wellness facilities all around you. Morey000 you are a lucky man!

I'm the Vitamin and Sports Nutrition Business Development Manager (long word for 'buyer') for the Healthy Living division of a grocery store chain.  Does that count?

I teach toddler gym at my local Y and MusikGarten classes for preschool age children. How is this fitness related you ask? You try jumping up and down like a frog for an hour and half while singing
"5 Green and Speckled Frogs".
No wonder my knees and feet hurt. And I thought it was the running.....

"5 Green and Speckled Frogs".

"Sat on a hollow log
Eating some most delicious bugs   Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Then there were 4 green and speckled frogs"

I love that song

In the process to become a paid firefighter... aside from enjoying that line of work the schedule seems to be a great perk.

Otherwise, no not in the fitness industry, but would like to be.

I am a group fitness instructor at the YMCA. I love my job and on my free style classes and cycle classes I can work my "tri training" into my class, the only down side is if I am teaching 15+ hours of classes and I need to train more I am having a hard time balancing work and getting a  "good" training session in.

I'm interested in becoming a certified sports nutrition. I have a degree in Biology, will that help or would I have to go back to school? Your job(s) sounds absolutely amazing and incredibly interesting!

I just accepted a job as a Swim Coach. I'm super excited about it.  Not many hours, not much $$, but as a stay-at-home mom, it is perfect AND gets me into that "fitness" industry, so to speak!

I'm a physical therapist and the office I work in is housed in a fitness center. So, although I can't break free to work out during work - I'm in the same building as the pool, the spin classes, the treadmill and the weight room so getting there for an early AM workout before work is a piece of cake! I'm also a personal trainer on the side at times but don't have any clients right now - no time!

I run The Athlete Village.  I eat, sleep, and dream swimming and triathlon now.  It was not always this great though, I first spent 10 years working for 'the man'.  When you can combine your career and your passion, nothing beats it!
