I will keep riding until I feel more seasoned and catch up with you guys in a few months! In the mean time......BEGINNER LADIES, calling all beginner ladies!!! Angel I just found out today that I know some other people riding from the HS at 8:00 tomorrow morning too. It's the scheduled Team in Training ride, and we could always hook up with them too for a larger group. They don't normally push a crazy pace, and if enough people are there, will split into smaller groups of different paces. |

Champion 5376 PA | Subject: RE: SC PA Group Ride Perfect Don! 22.5 miles to the H.S. with nearly 1400ft of climb. Just going there and back will be 45 miles so a nice 20 miler with the group makes for some solid mileage on a Saturday. |

Champion 5376 PA | Subject: RE: SC PA Group Ride I was out night fishing in Pinchot with my son last night so when the alarm went off this morning, I snoozed it (x4). Sorry for being a no show guys. I paid the price for waiting to do a ride later in the day too. I drank: 49 oz of water, 24 oz of electrolyte (Nuun in water), and 24 oz of Accelerade and still ran out of stuff to drink 40 min before I finished. I lost 5lbs on the ride. |

Veteran 118 Harrisburg, PA | Subject: RE: SC PA Group Ride My preferred loop is down 39 to Front to 443 back Fishing Creek Valley to the Gap and then back. With construction on 39 in Linglestown I've taken to starting at Fort Hunter and riding to the Gap and back on 443. I try to do this early on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Sometimes I start at my parents' house out in East Hanover Twp. 443 is a much less stressful ride than Rte 39 and it's easy to get back around the mountain at either of the Gaps. I'm not a fast rider at all but if you want to try this some weekend morning let me know. Also, I was out at Memorial Lake (in Indiantown Gap) today to walk the dog (his reward after a vet appt). I'm thinking that some Tue or Thur after work (these are my non-swim nights) I might go straight out there. It is easy access to 443 & 22 for a nice 20+ mile ride and then the park has nice trails for a run afterwards. So that's another option. Edited by jfdjrr 2010-07-17 5:12 PM |

Champion 5376 PA | Subject: RE: SC PA Group Ride I ended up doing a 55 miler. I started in Dover and headed south to Rt 30. Problem #1: I mentioned above that I started at noon. Problem #2: when you go west on Rt30, there is quite the head wind. I took Rt 30 to I94 North. That road was pretty nice with just a few mild rollers. I picked up 234 heading back East. I then hit 194 North. I took this road all the way up to Dillsburg. There were quite a few more hills on this road and with the heat, I could feel my legs getting weaker. In Dillsburg, I picked up 74 heading south back to Dover. Problem #3: The planning was pretty bad. I saved the worst climbing for last, after the heat beat me up and my legs were crying. LOL |

LOL No problem about not making it to Mechanicsburg HS yesterday morning. It sounds like you got a good ride in, though. From what Jason was saying about the Savageman course, it's probably good to hit some of those climbs late in the ride after you're tired. |
