What distance?

Sprint?
Olympic?
Half Ironman?
Full Ironman?

I would guess you are doing a sprint. Just put water in there.

Typically in a sprint I'll finish in 1 hour 15 minutes... so I only drink water. No food. I also found that when I drink too much on the bike, I pay for it on the run. So I drink as little as possible through the race.

I won't dehydrate in 1:15. Also, hydration starts before the race. If you drink water daily and some Gatorade (or some other type of sports drink), you work on being hydrated all the time.

Always use what you train with. Or else your body may not react well to whatever it may be. Short distance Sprints you shouldn't need anything more then water. Longer maybe some gel packs or gatorade. Whatever you are used to though you should use! this way there are no surprises on race day!

Agreed. Use what you train with and totally dependent on distance/time on the course. I only use water for sprints under 15 miles and take a gel within 10 minutes of the end of the bike for energy during the run. Anything over 15 miles I use Gatorade or 1st Endurance EFS if it is hot and I have trained with it before the race. But that is just me. Some people, like pro Jordan Rapp, can't drink plain water.

I usually figure one bottle per hour of riding.

For a sprint race one bottle works fine for me.  I like Gatorade, but occasionally will take plain water.  The advantage of water is that you can dump it over your head to cool off and not worry about gumming up your bike with sticky dried Gatorade.

If I carry two bottles, the it's usually one water and one Gatorade.

If you are fine with gatorade, I'd say to stick with it.

it is cheap
It is almost always also on the course
it is cheap especially if you buy the powder

Did I mention how cheap it is?

I currently use infinit nutrition drink. Great stuff. I have also used PowerBar Refuel.

I do sprints. Typically I use this stuff for longer rides and races. Especially in the heat. Short rides, I use water.

Everyone is different and what might work for some might not work for others so please keep that in mind as you read on.

Gatorade works fine for me while Heed works better.  However, if you can find it in powder form, do yourself a favor................Celsius!!!!!!!!!  Stuff works great, fantastic.  Placebo effect or not, I find myself pushing harder, longer and yes, faster.  Definitely works for me.  It's an amazing product.
