Subject: Here's why I am usually in the top 3 for transitions: Here's my athlete to professional T1 today
This morning I was cutting it close trying to make my morning group ride AND run a meeting starting at 8 a.m. at work.
It wasn't looking good when the ride start was a few minutes late, especially because one person had crashed over the weekend and wanted to take it slow.

Anyway, I was getting more and more worried. We usually finish the ride in 1:22, and we usually leave before 6 a.m. - more like 5:50 a.m. most mornings. Today we left at 5:55 and we were really slow-pedaling it, compared to the usual speed. I went out in front and pushed the pace several times, which is not usually my role.

It was 7:20 a.m. before we made it back to my car. By that time I had separated from the group and gone ahead. I was riding and talking on the phone to the bagel place so they would have my stuff ready and I could just run in.

Here's how the transition from athlete to professional went today:
7:24 Bagels picked up
7:32 At work
7:34 Bike, gym bag, laptop, backpack, bagels on 2nd floor
7:40 Board room set up, laptop on, projector on
7:41 In shower
7:50 In business suit and heels
7:51 Doors unlocked and greeting first attendee

Success!
I did run into the boss when I was still in sweaty bike clothes running around like a maniac. So that was a little awkward.

Multitasking, speed, strong mental focus, and good decision making is what it takes. Congrats on your success today.

I am so impressed!  I also work in a professional environment and stuggle with getting ready so quickly.

Great job!

Awesome! 'Grats! That is truly impressive.

I did get ready for the best date of my life in 5 minutes (elevator, strip, shower, clothes, makeup, elevator down) ... but no way I could have swung a business suit.

With that kind of focus it's no wonder your training is going so well.

You could have eliminated the clothes, makeup and elevator, shaved it to 2 min and still had the best date of your life.

...just sayin

Way to stay focused on nutrition.  Mid-presentation bonk would have been bad!

Yeah, actually I am going to go run for an hour at lunch, but I have to wait until my intern gets here so I can get her up and running before I leave.

My race was AWESOME!!! RR here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... />Short version: Goal=6:00; Actual=5:50

Wow, you really do allow your training to carry over to your work.  I hope your poor intern has at least completed a couch to 5k before starting at your office.

NINE minutes from shower to suit and heels?!  Holy impressive feat Bat-wo-man!!!!  All I could think was that I have long hair and there is no way that would ever happen so fast.  Very, very awesome.

GOOD JOB! I'm lazy in the am.

This could lead to a new thread....we've seen each other's race photos, photos of injuries, spouses, partners, kids, dogs, bikes, garage doors....what we now want to see is what we look like professionally. Some will be wearing suits, some will be wearing uniforms, etc...

I have long hair, too. I did manage to shampoo and condition it. Then I combed the water out, towel dried, did a low ponytail, braided it down to the bottom, twisted the braid into a bun, and put a second ponytail holder on that to keep it in place. I don't wear makeup, though. So that makes it faster. And the shower is RIGHT across from the board room.

Also, thanks for reading. This is the ONLY place in the world where I could get true appreciation for this, LOL. (And where people don't get resentful when you make a whole post just to brag about yourself.)
