Not necessarily.  In these studies using lab equipment there is a 'learning effect' where performance tends to improve with repeat trials (possibly due to familiarity with the equipment, test procedures, etc.).  And we all know that trained athletes can have good days & off days.  With small studies, 1 or 2 test subjects having a great or off day can really affect the conclusions.  And the assumption that the isolated TT max effort was using same exact protocol may not be accurate.  (I only have the abstract, not the full article).
