I am thinking about doing this as my first Olympic. Does anyone know when it usually hits capacity? I want to wait a few weeks to see how my swimming progresses.

But seriously don't do it injured...huge mistake for my season last year.

Swimming not bad, but quite hilly for everything else.  Was my first Oly, shouldn't be hard to PR Olys after that.

I agree with Brent.  I don't think I would want Tugaloo to be my first Oly.  On the positive side as Brent pointed out if Tugaloo is your first Oly, it will be easy to PR your next one.

Tug was my first OLY.....yes, PIT was a PR the next spring.    Tug is still a great race and you should do it.  Go for it.

I'm not injured, I am just a really bad swimmer and want to see if I can make something "click" before then.

Agree that Tugaloo is one of the hilliest Oylmpics locally.  However, it is also one of the only races nearby that does a time trial swim start.  Two-by-two on 3-5 second intervals.  This makes for a nice, "calm" start.  I think that is one of my favorite things about this race.

Get ready to be tapped out on the run though!

I would recommend Tugaloo. Many first timers do that race. It's one of the best swims in the area. Hard to say if it will sell out. It has in the past. but didn't last year. Most races have been selling out this year though so there may be some more pressure put on getting into this race due to that fact that people who didn't get into the other races will naturally be pushed toward that one.

I was going to do it but injuries from motorcycle wreck are putting the kabosh on everything right now.  That area is hilly though, my parents used to have a lake house around there
