Have a TACX and it's pretty quiet. Has a cable with tension adjuster that fits on the handle bars and believe me it WILL make you stand up off the saddle when you want to. Have rode it in the living room (tv off), while my wife was reading in bed and she could barely hear it...and we live in a condo so it's not that far from the living room to the bedroom.my $1.05 worth of opinion

I like that opinion....that's a pretty pricy trainer.....that's the one I see Lance using this year....

I use the Computrainer... it's pretty quite.

It seems the more quite the trainer, the more costly they seem to be...

I use a Blackburn Fluid trainer. Not too pricey, and it's quiet. During the off season I put it in the living room and pop in an old tape of the previous TdF and watch that while I ride. My wife can watch TV or read right next to me and it doesn't bother her.

I've got PB's Travel Tac Fluid+, and it's rather quiet.  I live in a townhome, ride in the living room, and my neighbor has never been able to tell when I've been riding it...

My boyfriend just got a Blackburn, too. Not too expensive, either- about $165. He seems to like it.

I use a Blackburn as well.

I agree with the others. When I use the trainer in my home, I usually am watching the tube. My wife and kids can enjoy the same show or, alternatively, do whatever they are doing without much disturbance.

Good luck.

Hopefully this won't hijack the thread, but how quiet are rollers?

Rollers are really quite until you crash into the wall in front of you... :-)
