Working on EDS Drive off of McLearen Rd. and looking for some place close to swim on a lunch break.  Jumped on swim.com and started calling pools it noted, some as open to public and I'm coming up with HOA pools so far.  If you have something I'm missing close to me... please do share.
Thanks,

Dave

While there are indeed lots of private neighborhood pools very close - your best bet given where you are working is Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly.

If you hop on 28 south, it's about a 10 minute drive without traffic, which you shouldn't see during the lunch hour.  I swim there at lunchtime occasionally and I've never had a problem getting a lane.

Tip: avoid Rt 50.  Take the Willard Dr. exit off 28 instead, then go west (right) on Willard, which ends at Stoneridge.  A quick left hand turn on Stoneridge and you are there...

Ouch $9.15 there since I'm not a resident, but maybe I'll spring for it a time or two over the next few weeks as I ramp up a bit for my HIM coming up.

Sport & Health in Herndon (at  Worldgate) might be an alternative.  5 miles from EDS Road.  I got a guest membership this week, and really like what I've seen so far.    Herndon Community Center is another alternative.

Ditto. I joined this club a month ago.  Great club, great atmosphere, clean, free child care (huge plus for us).  Its being refurbished so you have to deal with wallpaper being peeled off of the walls, but its not too bad, and is a short term inconvenience.

Its cool to swim in the pool that holds regular tri's...home court advantage

Thanks for those tips, will look into both of those places.

Went to Lifetime Fitness the other day in Sterling and that place is AMAZING, but more than I want/need.  It's also more than I want to pay for a place to swim @ $79.99/mth., which I'm sure equates to more once they toss on fee/taxes/whatever.  Worth looking at the place though since it is quite a facility... w/ three pools!  Two indoor, one heated and the lap pool unheated but around 80-82 I think.  Then an outside pool with lap lanes, slides, kids area, etc.

Just be sure you go to the Lifetime Fitness website before you show up to sign up for the 7-day pass otherwise you get looked at like you have three heads and make it sound like the 7-day pass is some super secret inside corporate handshake deal.

Associate mentioned Gold's in Sterling had a pool... and they do.  Four lap lanes and water temp is pretty reasonable.  Nice facility and I'm already a Gold's member so I've found a place to swim.
