Is anybody doing this race?  I've never done it, even though it's practically in my back yard, and I train at Pinchot all the time.  I just registered.

This is the first I have heard of it.  I'll look it up and let you know.
Hmm, That might be a great little workout before I start taper.  This is tempting.  I will say that I wouldn't wear a wetsuit in the lake.

Don, I'm in.

This is the only USAT sanction race now at Pinchot.  It’s a fun course, with a few hills on the bike and a trail run.  It can be muddy if it rains the days before.

Hey Mike, This is the fourth year for the Trimax Pinchot.  If you have ever done a Pinchot sprint race its pretty much the same.  There use to be 3 sprints by 3 different groups.  It should be a great pre-training race for Savageman.

I saw that it's sanctioned, but was surprised that the results make it look like it's a really small race.

I'm not familiar with the run course, but I ride the bike course regularly.

The run goes on the trails. If it rains before an event, then you have a nice mudfest going on.

I did the OLY as my first ever tri last year.  It was fun.  I probably won't do this one but I may get up early and take my son fishing in Pinchot that morning so I can watch you guys.  I live around 10 min away.

I'm up in the air. I didn't do any Pincholt events this year, and I am familiar with the course. But on the same day there's a 5k that literally starts 25 yards from my front door. I must meditate on this.

But Pinchot gives you that 5k with all the fun of the bike and swim.. what is there to think about?

Well, being so selfish and self-centered, I can save the drive, and there's a good chance I can do that which I can accomplish only once in a great while...get first place in my age group.

Here's a kicker...I only did the Trimax Pinchot in 2008. It was a last minute thing because I DNF'ed the Boiling Springs Tri the week before and need to just finish an event. Well, I'm comparing my times from this 2008 event and the 2009 Tricat Pinchot Sprint. Wouldn't you know...with these two sets of times, I would have placed in my AG had I done the Trimax Pinchot in '07 or '09. I had to do it in '08 which was the year there were faster people in my AG. So now I'm really torn between this and the aforementioned 5k.

You completely lost me when I read that you had a DNF.  Did you have a broken leg or the flu?  I know you are really fast so I can't imagine you having a DNF.

I kind of want to do this event as a training session before Savageman.  I've only ever been in one Sprint and after all the training for the HIM, I think I would be able to do an event and not be at the BOP.  LOL  Then again, just because I can handle much longer distances, doesn't mean I'm fast.  I would just cross the line near last but without being winded.

Nick, dude you're making it complicated and you also have NO control who shows up.  Just go and race the darn thing.

You don't have to worry about me.  I am in the M45-49 and I'm gunning for Rick.  Like I have a chance on betting him, HUH!  Then again maybe someone else faster will show up.

I race 1 because it’s fun, I keep in shape, I like shaving my legs and placing is cool every now and then.  Heck I could place a lot more if I didn’t do so many bigger races.

It looks like it will be 89* and sunny on Sunday.  It's been in cool lately so I'm thinking the lake may have cooled off a bit.  I suspect the water temps (just guessing here) will be in the mid to high 70's?  The water was pretty warm all last month when I took my son fishing.

Hey, I just signed up, so you might as well too. I just pray the water temp will allow us to use wetsuits. I NEED the buoyancy, and I have yet to invest in a second, sleeveless, Vortex 3.
