Been watching my wife do races for a few years now (multiple half IM, and one full IM) and have decided to take the plunge. I have no background in distance events of any kind. I'm more of a fast twitch athletic type by nature, but I'm looking for a challenge. Just got my bike back out of the shop and started riding a couple of weeks back and then just decided to sign up for a race-- a sprint Tri on October 10. I have about 9 weeks total to get ready for the race 300M swim, 10m bike, and 5K run.

The bike won't be an issue but I'm literally starting from scratch on the swimming. I have 4 swim workouts under my belt now and have a long way to go to get to 300M. Had a minor set back during my second run with achilles pain (tendonitis and solius pain) and have had to take a few days off the running and rehab/ice/stretch/sleepin a boot. Went and got fitted for proper running shoes and hopefully that will make a difference.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully not drowning!

Welcome Ryno74 and congratulations!  I think in 9 weeks, barring injury, you will be good to go if you are following a good training plan.
