Subject: anti fogging goggles
I'm trying to find some goggles that will make it past 500 yards before fogging. I've tried Tyr anti fog spray-no good.  spit is ok for awhile, but not far. Anyone tried those big goggles that look like a hybrid of goggles and mask? Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Try giving them a good wash with soap & water and see if that helps.

I use baby shampoo, small drop on the inside, rub around rinse and swim, works great for me.

If you get the small sample bottle and put a small hole on the seal under the cap you can then put one drop on each lens easy.

I've used these (http://www.aquasphereswim.com/us/) all summer. I wash them every few swims while in the shower and just use spit as anti-fog and ha no fogging (or seal) problems on 50+ minute swims.

I have an old bike water bottle that I take with me swimming.  In it is a mixture of water and baby shampoo - maybe 3 or 4 squirts in the bottle, you may need to experiment to get the mixture right.  Before I put my goggles on, I give them a squirt with the mixture, inside and out, and that's it.  Don't rub them or rinse them and I'm good to go.  I've worn the goggles for up to an hour and a half with no fogging.  Just remember to never rub them with your fingers!

Can you explain why?  Is it the rubbing that causes the anti-fog treatment to fail?

x2  Aqua sphere Kaimans have never fogged on me or leaked.   They do start to fog after about 4-5 months, btu that is liekly more due to keeping them in my hot trunk and sometimes forgettign to rinse after swim.

you may try cleaning them with toothpaste... i dive and that is the first thing you do with a new mask to get the crap off the lens.

I can offer no explanation other than, it works!    I just know that I come from a swimming background where it became a habit to give them a rub with the fingers after each set in the pool and that carried over to when I started training for tris again.  Once I discovered the baby shampoo mixture and broke the finger rub habit, the issue went away 100%.  Initially when I was still giving it the odd finger rub, it would start to fog up a bit sooner.

Yeah, this bottle stays with my bag, AWAY from the side of the pool.  Laughing

Zoggs Predator flex, they are coated with an anti fog which actually works.
Just be very careful when clearing them as it can scratch pretty easily.

I have a pair of Speedo goggles that are over a year old.  They would fog up very easily until I started doing this prior to each swim:
- drop in dish soap
- gently rub finger around inside
- rinse and pat dry
- spray with tyr anti-fog

I can do hour workouts without having them fog now.

Saliva works for me.  The swim masks I don't like.  Just not my preference.  If you use soap make sure you get it out.  If you end up with a leak or your googles get kicked off, you will end up with soap and suds in your eye.

This is the beauty of the baby shampoo.  It doesn't bother the eyes if you get some in.

The baby shampoo solution is by far the best.  I've tried the TYR solution in the little spray bottle, then dumped it out saved the bottle and fill it with a 33/66 solution of J&J baby shampoo and water.  I give the lenses a spray or two each, then before i put them on quickly give them a very quick dunk in the pool/bay/lake/ocean (NOT RUB) to rinse away the excess and I have never had a problem.  I used this method for over a year with my speedo Speed sockets and now on my new Aquasphere Kayenne's <3.  Problem solved!
