ok, so after looking at master's lists and google, the pools that seem to work for me are: JCC (though master's only once per week in evening so only would swim on own), Asphalt Green - would work for morning master's though a bit intimidating, and then there are two master's groups at the John Jay College pool - Red Tide and Team NY Aquatic
anyone have any input on these? anyone swim with these groups?
I’ve heard good things about the JCC’s facility, although I’ve never used it. Asphalt Green’s facility is amazing. If it’s remotely convenient for you to swim there, that’s what I’d do.
(Intimidated? You? Who are you and what have you done with Cat?)

have you seen me swim? I swim in the guppie lane....and my backstroke makes me look like a drowning baby sea turtle
I have swam with Red Tide at John Jay. There is not much technique work, mostly just structured workouts. I would suggest having some knowledge of all of the strokes (although I am terrible at anything except freestyle). I would say the slowest lane swims at 1:35-1:40/100 pace.
