Cervelo P1 - 54?

No one but your bike fitter. although I have similar measurements and ride a 54.

Are you happy with the P1? For $1699 it seems like a hard deal to beat? I am also looking at the Felt B16 but I can buy the Cervelo add the pedals and a good fit for less than the $1999 B16 price.

Thoughts?

P1 = aluminum
B16 = full carbon fiber

something to keep in mind!

Has your local bike shopped marked down the 2010's yet?  P1 here in Boise is $1450 and P2 is $1960 FYI

No such luck on any price reductions on 2010 in the North Dallas area. Even the 2010 B16 still around $2000

Careful!  Do not make assumptions on bike fits. Try to get a fitting and at the very least try out all the bikes in question.

I recently got to test ride some Cervelos.  I went in with multiple people telling me I'd be on a 54, but on the Cervelos (P3 and RS) they sent me out on 51s and they felt great.  They said I was short legs, long torso.

I just recently got to take a B16 for a spin around the parking lot at a shop.  (They were about to close and it was Friday rush hour in Kansas City so I didn't hit the roads with it.)

The felt WAS a 54cm and felt good.  (Hmm.  Felt² Good.)

I'm leaning towards the B16 if I can pick up a new bike soon, but I'll be working closely with the owner at the shop there to determine correct sizing, and I will take a P1, the B16, and anything else that might even remotely be in my price range out for test rides to be sure.  I would not be shocked if he determined a 52cm would fit me better.

I love the LOOK of the B16, but when the time comes for me to pluck down the cash, I'll pick up a less attractive bike if the fit dictates it!

Good aluminum > cheap carbon.  Not saying anything bad about the B16 but just because a bike is aluminum or carbon does not necessarily make it better/worse/

Wasn't necessarily saying better... Just something to keep in mind when considering the price difference...

How much money do you have? Seriously, a 54 could fit you fine, or it could be a disaster fit and not working out at all and you need to replace the bike (and most likely take a substantial loss on the bike when selling it). If money is no problem, then just go ahead and buy the 54, if not, get yourself a bike fit and buy the right bike for YOU.
