Bother Clydes and Sister Athenas,

I've actually been thinking about this for a while now but, I neglected to post it. I was wondering:

What should I be eating tonight!! My first Tri is in the morning at 8AM!!

Thanks -

I would avoid "heavy" foods.  What's heavy?  I'm thinking steak, hamburgers, stuffed baked potato, cream sauces, massive amounts of dairy, etc.  At the same time, I might cut back on the fiber intake (vegetables & fruit).
I generally eat a pasta based meal while avoiding the "heavy" sauces, i.e. alfredo.  Spaghetti with marinara is an easy go-to.  Throw a little tofu or lean hamburger/turkey in there, and you've got a pretty nice meal, carb + lean protein.
And Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate...now's the time to start.

Quantity wise, I eat about what I'd eat on a non-heavy training day.  So, if I eat 2500 calories a day normally, then about 1/3 - 1/4 of those would be for supper.  That would be about   800 - 600 calories for supper.

My favorite night-before meal is sushi.....carbs and protein, and low-salt soy sauce.  I avoid the fried stuff and pretty much just eat the raw stuff or a couple of rolls.  It's probably too late now, I hope you found something to eat and have a great race tomorrow!! Good luck!  Post-race, my favorite food is sushi.  As you can see, I really like sushi.

I would not change too much from what you have been eating up to this point.  Having said that I will typically have a later and heavier lunch the day before and then a smaller dinner.  I try and take in about 300-400 more calories during my late lunch and about 200-300 calories less for dinner.  I think the biggest think is not shocking your system as the last thing you will want on race day is/are GI self induced troubles.  Good Luck!

I'm sure others will be reading this thread anyway, so I have to second you on the sushi for dinner-before meals. I skip the edamame--too much fiber for me. White rice, not too much veggies, and fishies for the lowfat or good-fat protein!

I have a sandwich from Subway at 5pm the day before a race (gives everything a chance to, um, work itself out in the morning). Nutella on toast and Gatorade race-day morning and I'm good-to-go.

I know it's too late for the OP, but I typically eat normal amount but healthy two days before.  I then go light and fluids the day before.  Lunch is usually a sub sandwhich (Jimmy John's if I can get it) and an early evening meal of whole wheat pasta and a red sauce, no meat.  I usually eat half of what I typically would.

I try to get the calories the week before, and I need to make sure the system isn't retaining a lot of mass for race day, or I can get in trouble.
