Subject: timing chips and wetsuits

Newbie question here....first tri tomorrow...thinking about transitions because have not really practiced them. Picked up racing packet...timing chip is not so thin. Anyone have any issues getting a wetsuit off over it without tearing their ankle off. I was allready anxious enough about getting the dang thing off without this little gizmo around my ankle.  Body glide doesnt really help this one.  Any tricks?  Anyone rip a wetsuit from one?  Anyone have to bite their ankle off to get the suit off?

Thanks,   JT

I think with all the dripping water, it should come off over the chip ok.  I've done 3 Tri's with the chip and wetsuit, can't remember having any real problems.  No tearing.

Now watches and my HR monitor watch I take off for the swim.  Also take off the wedding band.  Hate to loose that in the water.<img align='middle' src='https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/surprise.gif'>

Not a problem.  My Polar HRM watch is way bigger than a chip and it hasn't been a problem either.

Just make sure the chip is under the wetsuit... it won't be a problem. Done... hmmm... probably somthing like 50 or so triathlons with chips and have never had a problem or tore a wetsuit.
