Swim
Comments: The swim time didn't end until we crossed over the timing mat into the transition area. We had to run about 100 or so yards so my actual time in the pool was 6:30. Also I was stuck in a slower group than what my ability is and at about the 4th length in the pool a bunch of us were wading through the water because there was a traffic jam. What would you do differently?: Put in a slightly faster estimated swim time Transition 1
Comments: I had no wetsuit but I did throw a tank top on. I got in my shoes before running with the bike so all I had to do was clip in. What would you do differently?: I should learn how to jump on my bike and I'll wear a tri-suit next time so there are no clothing issues during transition. Bike
Comments: There were some spots that I was worried I was going too hard and then some spots when I felt I had more to give. I think I had a good effort though. Transition 2
Comments: I need to do something differently to make it quicker to get my shoes on. What would you do differently?: I will learn how to dismount faster and I will buy elastic shoe laces. Run
Comments: I could have pushed a little harder but I was worried about my knee. It felt good though. Post race
Warm down: Water, oranges, walking, stretching What limited your ability to perform faster: My IT band injury. Event comments: Great first race. Everyone was friendly and I was completely unintimidated. I can't wait to do it again! Last updated: 2005-07-01 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:00 and ate a cliff bar and got dressed. I had my bag packed and my water bottles filled the night before so all I had to do was load up the car and ride over to the Y. My biggest mistake was that I drove away from the hotel without actually fastening the straps to keep my bike on the rack. That could have been disasterous.
Set up my transition area and got right in the pool. I swam 250 then got out and ate 1/2 a banana and watch my fellow racers. It was a wave start so I had an hour to wait until my time. I didn't want to go for a little run because I had fear of my IT band firing up on me again
