Garmin 205.... battery questions

Master  1303   Mishicot, Wisconsin |  Subject: Garmin 205.... battery questionsHi Everyone, I have had my Garmin Forerunner 205 for about 3 or 4 years. I really haven't had any problems with it up until lately. The forerunner is not clicking into the base well and unless I wrap a rubber band around it, won't charge. Then I will let it sit on the base with the rubber band and it will charge overnight and in the morning it still says it is in progress of charging. Normally the battery is full when I pull it off, but it won't nearly last more than an hour and a half which won't be long enough for my marathon coming up. Anyone have this problem before? Is it my battery in the Garmin or maybe just the base? Has anyone had a battery replaced in their Garmin before? Who does it? Any help would be great!!! |

Master 1963  | Subject: RE: Garmin 205.... battery questions Just a quick thought: check out the contacts on the back of the garmin and those that are the base. If they look sort of dirty clean them using a pencil eraser to ensure that good contact is being bad. In addition, the contacts on the base should be "springy" meaning they stick up and go down when you put your finger on them. A new base can be had if needed. Assuming that the garmin is legitimately charging (it should say Charging Complete) and it's not holding a charge then I would look into having the battery replaced. I would only let garmin do it since the unit is sealed against sweat and stuff. You can give them a call and ask them how much. They are really good.
