You don't need a poll to find out what "majority rules" the answer to this question of transition buckets.

Simply look around the TA at your next event (or think about a past one) -- which "majority rules"?

There are good reasons for that.

Cheers, Chris

I saw two ladies carrying in their buckets to a HIM last weekend.

They were hard to carry... and pushing their bikes made it even harder.

Whereas, my boyfriend and I have the TYR Tri backpacks. So we were able to carry all our stuff, easily AND ride our bikes.

Buckets suck.

i want to kick them , literally, kick them off of the fully spread out beach towel the said person will typically use for a "transition towel".  you could setup 3 normal transition areas in the same area that the bucket person occupies..  i have no love for buckets..

I was a bucket person for my first year. Liked the seat, and my spot was no bigger than anyone else.

Now I have a big backpack that can hold everything.

Oy, flipperfoots. It's called a LUNCH PAIL for a reason. It's the only thing big enough to hold all my nutrition. Thanks.

9 votes for buckets.  No one brave enough to defend them, except for the penguin footed, overly friendly, south asian beauty queen

I was recently at an event where people wanted to keep their ice chests in transition. I was not surprised. Bucket, ice chest whatever, I don't care as long as it does not get in the way of my lawn chair.

Not only will I not use a bucket...  but it seems my transition neighbors can't even seem to keep their towel in their own space, let alone a bucket full of stuff.  I have definitely become minimalistic in my approach to transition this past year.

On the ground, my transition area today was a pair of running shoes and a pair of cycling shoes (which normally are on the bike) .. helmet on bars and thats it.. everything else is overkill .. (race number on under wetsuit else u can have that next 2 shoes)

I only use a bucket due to a bad back that makes it easier for me to get my shoes on.  When I don't sit I almost always cramp up from stretching too far as my back doesn't bend.  My bucket is only 10" x 10" and takes up less space than many people's towels.  I have a nice tri bag that I won and would prefer to use it but I can't sit on it.
