mll1605 - 2010-10-09 10:07 PM So my husband keeps asking me these questions and I don't know the answers -

Is there prize money for AGers or just the pros?

How does one earn the distinction of a pro instead of just a fast AGer?

No money for AGers!
Must be fast enough and submit to USAT for a pro card.  Alot of really fast AGers don't go pro as it makes it harder for them to get to Kona and they have a "real" job.

Hope this helps

Kona has a very good payout for the Pros, but very few actual pros can make a living outside of the big shots who have won Kona or are in contention like Chris Lieto.

I linked an article of a woman who went Pro just recently in our area.

anyone stay up to see that triple amputee finish.  Granted I'm in Hawaii...so it was around 9:20 pm for me.  2 prosthetic legs and his right arm cut off at the elbow...finished around 14:20.  Should make for a touching NBC story come December.

I need to post this, but I thought the live coverage this year was bad.  They kept following the same people over and over again, from the Pros levels.  I thought last year the internet coverage was way better.  Liteo was in the lead for some of the run and they kept showing the 3rd place guy.   They finally got it right when Mac and the 2nd place guy caught each other in the last part of the run.  The women's race as bad as well.

They did say they were having technical difficulties, specifically with the female race.  It's not an NBC production with tons of cameras and $$$ behind the production.  Parts of it were frustrating but giving what it is and is meant to be I thought it was just fine.
