The newer Beck CDs are pretty good - good beats, no bubble gum.

A few of the more "interesting songs" I listen to on the trainer (and yes I like them):

Safety Dance - Men without Hats
SexyBack - Justin Timberlake
Bad Girlfriend - Theory of a Deadman
Anything from AC/DC

Kerrdog79 - 2010-10-08 3:50 PM My iPod has a crazy range of things lots of Rush, Iron Maiden, and Disturbed are staples but here are some not so common songs.

The Distance - Cake
Gettin Jiggy wit it - Will Smith
Ditty - Paperboy
Regulate - Warren G

Thats funny. I've got warren G on my ipod as well. Lately it's beeen lots beastie boys while I run, and Bad Company while on the trainer. Oh, and JayZ is always in fashion.

Just for the record, when I think of the Theme from Rocky, I think of Gonna Fly, and not Eye of the Tiger.

Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins

Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross

Yes, I should clarify that by the "Rocky" theme I meant "Gonna Fly Now".

I have never listened to music in 30 years of running and won't start now--I need to see the motorbike that's aiming for me, as well as listen to my body and/or tell it to quit whining. Likewise for outdoor cycling. Music reserved for the bike trainer:

Anything Hawaiian--No, I don't have fantasies of Kona/Ironman. But I lived in Hawaii for a few years about 20 years ago and still miss it.  Many of my all-time favorite running routes are there; favorite ocean swims, too. The music takes me to a better place that the guest room of my Saigon apartment......

Makaha Sons of Niihau
Hawaiian Style Band
Olomana
Hapa

Probably would work for anyone with a serious Kona fixation as well.

If Hawaii sounds too hot, I crank up the air con, play Tibetan rock, and pretend I am hammering across the high plateau toward Everest. No, haven't done it on a bike, only in a jeep and trekking, and probably there isn't enough oxygen to "hammer", but whatever, it's a fun fantasy.

Seriously, I listed to that the morning of my first sprint and it made me smile all through the run!!

As a Clydesdale, I have to admit to having the Budweiser theme song on my phone.  My other favorite, is Aerosmith's "The Train Kept A Roll'n."

So listening to music affects your ability to see? That's strange!

Ain't lame if it works.

Like GM muscle car fans listening to Jerry Reed's "Eastbound & Down" from the original Smoky & the Bandit.  Lame movie, but love that Trans-Am's V-8 growl.

Hmmm....I guess I meant "hear the motorbike". This is what running in a tropical country and inhaling carbon monoxide fumes does to your brain, and your English. Although, if I were really into a Hawaii/ Tibet fantasies, maybe I wouldn't see the motorbike either! (I am infamous with family and friends for going into Lalaland when I run, even without music. Once failed to notice a man dressed as a gorilla dancing on the course at 20 miles of a marathon.)

By the way, "Break My Stride" is a cool training song--listened to it in high school. Yikes--dating myself.  Also Emmy Lou Harris singing "Born to Run".

Love it! Haha

I came by another one last night accidentally...Britney Spears "Three"...it's an AWFUL some, but the beat is up tempo and doesn't allow you to stop.

If were talking about good workout songs then I've got tons, I can just put these artists on shuffle and be good to go for hours:
AC/DC
Alice In Chains
Alice Cooper
Bruce Dickinson
Disturbed
God Smack
Iron Maiden
Infected Mushroom
(if you like techno, try "Cities of the Future" for your next run)
Judas Priest
Metallica
NaS
Scorpians
Tool
Van Halen

The list goes on and on...

If we are talking suprisingly good music to work out to:
1.Rubberband Man - The Spinners (disco is great in general this just happens to be a favorite)

2.Jammin' - Bob Marley

3.Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley (Both great, puts me in a good mood)

4.Anything Britney or Lady Gaga

5.I have a huge play list of classical songs that pump me up, I would recommend E.S. Posthumus, or Apocolyptica, but there's other stuff out there as well. I'm a big fan of the theme song from Troy.

But as we all know, The Guile Theme goes with everything!

The Performance Cycle instructor at my gym (LTF) recently added "Beat it" by Michael Jackson to our workout as a high cadence drill.  You'd think, "ick!" but it is awesome.

Equally good for the high-cadence - "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by The Charlie Daniels Band.

Okay, my workout music is very eclectic. I have some classical, rock, dance, teeny bopper, metal and rap. My faves are the following.

Sandstorm - Darude for cycling intervals
Chelsea Dagger from Run, Fat Boy, Run
Stronger - Kanye
Just a Girl - No Doubt
