Forgot to change mine out, yesterday, when I went for a ride.

Non-issue?  Don't make a habit of it?  Bad?

Nope. Once I put a junk skewer in my rear wheels, I never change it back out. Absolutely nothing wrong with them.

I asked the same question at the LBS this weekend.  I was told that the trainer skewer was what used to be the standard rear wheel skewer used on bikes.  That is why the trainers were made to fit it.  As every component has been redesigned to be lighter, the skewer design changed.

So bottom line - no, there is no issue with riding on it.

I figured I was do to try going from a du to tri

Agree.  Mostly cheaper in quality somewhat and are used for the trainer so you don't scratch the heck out of your nicer skewer's outside lever.

If I could slightly hijack, any problem in just using the OEM skewer?  Trainer is KK and I'm using the notched cup thingy.  I don't care about scratches - any other concerns?

Some OEM skewers will not work properly on the KK trainer, I have a '06 Felt S22 and the OEM skewer is not rounded and will not fit snug in the KK mount.  I paid $5 at the LBS for a steel skewer with rounded ends and leave it in for everything except race day, it is heavier!

Dude, you probably added an extra 20-30 grams on your ride. Did you feel it in the hills?
