Ok I got my birthday Duathlon finished today-The Fall Classic Duathlon in Purcell OK. I'll post a real race report when the full results and times are posted. I am reasonably ok with the results although I had hoped for better, but took almost two weeks off leading up to the event.
So now I am registered for the Cooper Fall Out triathlon in McKinney Texas-3 weeks from now. I have been swimming some and I know I can go the distance, not concerned really with the time just the experience-however:
It is advertised as a "heated outdoor pool". I'm not sure I have ever encountered such an animal. it is November and in the morning. I'm guessing wetsuits are not the norm in pools anyway, nor do I own one. It just seems  cool to me. Perhaps it isn't bad at the start but running out to the bike while wet sounds chilly to me. Granted this is Texas, but it could easily be in the 40's 50's-occasionally colder. So what can i expect, how should I prepare/dress etc?

You will want it to be in the 50's after swimming in the heated pool, don't sweat it (Ha, pun intended).

You probably won't feel the cold when you get out. Run fast to transition and have an extra towel handy to dry off if you're worried.

Have a towel at the end of your lane outside the pool, grab it and towel off after you get out of the pool or enroute to T1.  Have a second towel for wiping your feet in T1.

You might notice it when the wind hits you on the bike.  If it were me, I would think about putting on a tight fighting long sleeve shirt in T1 (depending on race day temp).  Gloves might be needed it if is really chilly.  Good luck in your race!

I just raced out in Denton yesterday.  Make sure you towel your feet off prior to getting into socks or shoes.  The wind will numb your feet up good if they're still wet.  Otherwise I might be tempted to swim in some long sleeved compression gear.
