Subject: Suggestions Needed for Running/Cycling Jacket
Long time lurker......

I need a wind/rain proof jacket that will not break my budget ($50 - $70). Wind pants too.

Any jackets/stores you would suggest?

I don't need brand names or graphics - just something simple that works.

Thanks in advance,

David

Check out sierratradingpost.com  Great name-brand equipment and clothing at awesome prices.  Make sure you add your email to their mailing list.  They have awesome specials.  Right now, they're running a 30%off coupon.

If you don't like buying online, Target clothing has worked for me in a pinch, and the price was right.  Just don't expect it to last forever...

Keep an eye on www.bonktown.com - if you know what you are looking for, you can find some great deals there.

My husband has a Cannondale bike jacket that he loves for running and cycling.  You can remove the sleeves (they attach with magnets) if you get warm.  http://www.rei.com/product/788159

My favorite jacket is actually a vest.  I wear the Brooks Essential run vest for running and cycling.  http://www.brooksrunning.com/Outerwear/mens-apparel-outerwear,default,sc.html  Brooks makes run jackets (Essential Run Jacket, Nightlife and LSD Lite) also but I prefer a long-sleeved jersey and a vest.  If it is super-cold, you can add arm-warmers/mittens and shuck them as you warm up.

I like REI and Performance Bike, for what your looking for.  In general, they both have pretty decent quality "house brand" clothing stuff that is comparable to name brand items at about half the cost.  I'm sure you can get a very nice jacket from either of them in the $50-70 range... and if they have stores near you, you can even check them out before you buy.

x2 on bonktown.com, there is constantly jackets on there. I dont particularly need jackets so they drive me crazy, but it would be good to see someone who DOES need them.
