I did last year.  I flew out from Boston to Oakland during July and they were having their annual TdF special where bikes fly free.  So the cost wasn't an issue.  There was no hassle at all.  Actually, 2 employees were also traveling with their bikes.  Nothing but good things to say about JetBlue.

I'm taking Jet Blue to AZ in a couple weeks.  This will be my first time bringing my bike with them, but I've heard very good things.  I've been told it will be an additional $50 each way.  I'll give you more details in a few weeks.

Jetblue is one of the cheapest airlines around (50.00 each way). Hassle depends on the bike case, the big hard cases are a pain but safer. I've flown with my bike many times and never had a problem until early this year where they cracked my frame. It was a hassle to get some $$ back from it  because I didn't check my bike right away (I kept it pack for a week as I was riding my cross bike in the mean time) and the policy said any damage has to be reported within 24-48 hrs IIRC.

If you fly with your bike:
1. when checking in, report it as a bike, otherwise even if you get lucky and save paying extra fee for traveling with a bike, if they damage it you are out of luck.
2. some airlines sell you luggage insurance for specialized items like bikes
3. always check your bike right away within a day of traveling, even at the luggage pick up if possible.
4. when packing your bike, disassemble stuff that can damage your bike (includnig water cages), mine was broken cuz of that; if I would have taken those off like I normally do I am pretty sure my bike would have been ok.

I hope that helps.
