Somebody might point out that your seat and aerobars are about the same height and it doesn't look like you can get very aero on your bike something that you might not like. I was using sarcasm...like every other post. but thanks for judging my judging, I like where your head's at |

In all seriousness though, I don't get why anybody is worried about what anybody else does. Compare your races times if you wanna compare something. Otherwise we're just a bunch of people who wear spandex in public and train in a multitude of different ways. |

Champion 9600 Fountain Hills, AZ | Subject: RE: Not taking advantage of aero cstoulil - 2010-11-03 11:36 AM No I didn't expect it to go this way, yeah I know my bike is not setup to be as aero as many of you are, it has actually changed since the pics, but not much. I'm just out there doing the best I can do with what God has giving me body wise, I have a negative sit and reach and it is hard for me to get down as low as many of you. My hips are jointed funny which does allow me to sit with my knees flat etc. So I'm just doing the best I can with what I have. In my family basically everyone on my dad's side has had hip or knee replacement surgery because of this, including him just in August. The thing I do find funny though is, some of the people posting in this thread saying they don't always ride aero or sometimes take a break, I often see in other threads the same people saying why would you not take advantage of this, or do that. Yet here they are saying they don't always do it themselves, so that's kind of funny. So i guess I will ask the same question they are asking people in the other threads concerning wheels, wetsuits, aero helmets, etc. If you are telling these people they should be taking advatage of it if they can. Well that was kind of my same thoughts as well when I started this post about the ones I saw. If you have it why not use it? I'm just here trying to make a diference in my life, down from 218 to 193 this morning in the 3 months I've been doing this stuff. So sorry if I'm such a newb for judging other's, I've seen several other threads here criticizing people for not riding aero so I guess I was just taking the lead of what I have seen others post. OK, now I am even more confused. What does your bike position have to do with your topic, and what is the "advantage" of being aero on a training ride 100% of the time? So your ride takes a little less time as you will be a little bit faster? |

Extreme Veteran 1942 In front of computer when typing this. | Subject: RE: Not taking advantage of aero Everyone knows that riding a TT bike in aero is not the important thing. It is much more important that you LOOK like a triathlete in your gear, on your triathlon bike and, if possible, with your race wheels on. You should also have a number of GUs taped to your top tube and a series of hydration systems (aerobars, downtube and an X-wing on the back). An aero helmet nets you bonus points. Standing on the side of the road HOLDING this setup is more important than riding it. Come to think of it, having a race number still taped to your bike is advisable so that people know you are a triathlete. |

I hope my bib number is 866 at the next race I do b/c I had it permanently tattooed into my arms after my last HIM. |

That was in reference to the person who was saying my bike isnt exactly setup to be as aero as it could be. As for the rest of this topic I'll just use the "nothing new on raceday" and "train like you race" response I see on the board everyday as to why I'm riding in aero as much as possible on a training ride. |
