Looks like the Pigman Long Course tri in August is a qualifier for the ITU Long Course World Championships this year.  The ITU race is in Vegas and it's an interesting distance (4k swim, 120k bike, 30k run), might give faster swimmers and runners more of a chance...Too bad Pigman is only a few weeks before IM Moo or I would take a swing at it...

That's pretty cool.  Pigman Long Course is what I plan to train for next year.  It will be my first HIM distance race.  Don't know that I have a chance of qualifying for the worlds, but dare to dream.  If nothing else it will be motivation.

I imagine this means it will fill up pretty quick once registration opens.  Anyone have insight on when that might be?

I wonder how they will like the hilly event that it is to compare to other HIM distances.  I would think the Wisconsin HIM would be a LOT easier to qualify.

The ITU world championship is on portions of the Silverman course, which is very hilly from what I've heard.  I would assume Pigman would not be as difficult a course.  Besides, it's supposed to be hard

I just meant that if you were only worrying about qualifying, you would not be using this course to do it.  I think it will be a good thing for the Pigman, but not making it a great course to qualify.

From what I heard, it would be the top five finishers per age group qualifying, rolling on down to the top ten. It wouldn't be comparing times amongst the races.

Then that might be bringing some different people to the race.  That makes more sense to me.
