Subject: My first DNS is coming up Thursday
I'm bummed.  I tore or stretched the Calcaneofibular ligament on my right ankle last week and it's hurting just as much today as it was when I did something to cause it last Wednesday evening.

So, barring some amazing change between now and Thanksgiving, my Turkey Trot will be as a spectator. 

The worst part is this would be the first time running with my stepdaughter who has recently taken up running; I was really looking forward to this.

Hang in there. DNSing sucks. I had to DNS a race in September as the water was just to cold. I went along and cheered for my husband and the others that I knew who were racing. I'd suggest you go and hang out. I learned a few things by watching the speedy ones through transition.

Sorry to hear about it--especially since you were going to run it with your stepdaughter. I hope she still does the race and you can go support her.

I must be a triathlete because when I came to the part of your post about it being a Turkey Trot, I thought to myself "well that's not so bad, it least it wasn't a triathlon DNS"

I feel ya, bummer.  I had my first DNS this year ever, and I have been running for 35 years!  I had appendicitis surgery the day before a race back in June that I was really psyched up for.

Well, this morning my ankle is hurting only a quarter of what it was yesterday.  I'm going to go get an ankle brace and make a race day decision about running trotting.
