Trying to find a decent powder for shakes etc, but I'd like it to fall into clean eating. So, what do you use, why, price etc.

I'd say nutritionally that all protein powders are pretty clean.  Most of the macro nutrients are similar and you loose fillers like sodium, cholesterol, etc as you move the price point up in general.  But if you are eating clean and only using protein powder sparingly the fillers aren't really that big of an issue.  The big difference is in how you approach your carb intake.  If you are looking to achieve ketosis you'll have to find zero carb options.  Most triathletes are not looking for this though.  So my preference comes down to taste.  I personally find xtreme formulations powders to have the best taste.  They are a little pricey, but if you have extra $$ laying around it's a nice change.  Their lemonade flavor is second to none.  I don't have the extra dinero at the moment and use the stuff from Costco.

This is probably the best tasting all natural whey protien on the market that is a reasonable cost compared to all other brands, if this is what you are looking for when you say "eat clean". Many protiens including the one mentioned above contain sucralose which is an artificial sweetener and does not have any long term studies on harmful effects.

My well-meaning husband brought home hemp protein powder and i thought it was awful.   Couldn't hide it in a fruit smoothie even.  I like the rice protein powder I got @ Vitamin Cottage.   One of the nice things about V.C. is they won't carry products with junk in them, so pretty much anything you buy there should be "clean".

To each his/her own -- I'm sure she likes it, just wanted to warn the OP that I thought it was awful -- before spending $$ on it, maybe try a small container of it first.

I'll second what a previous poster said about trying it in smaller amounts.  When I finally decided I wanted to use protein powder, I bought all of the 1-serving packets I could and did a blind taste test (my husband thought I was crazy Tongue out).  I mixed a tablespoon of each one in soy milk.  The winner was pretty clear after a few tastes.   I ended up going with Jay Robb vanilla whey powder.  It's about as clean as you can get.  The only flavoring is stevia, and it's from pastured, no added hormones, etc.  However, you will pay for it.  I make it go further by only using 1/2 a scoop at a time.
