Hi everyone!

I hope you all managed to get a spot before it filled up!! The race was sold out in 3 minutes ...crazy stuff!

I doubt I'll start any training for this until January.

Hopefully it will be as good a race as last years!

 Cheers,

 Jeff

Well I reckon Jeff will finish 4:30 to 4:45.
I am hoping to finally beat 5hrs, which is a big ask seeing how my PB is 5:37.
However I have a new program and some new determination so reckon I will get there.

Good on yer!
Was thinking about IMWA next year but what with heading over for the half, plus Noosa in October another trip west just before Christmas might not be the best.....
So....... I'm banking / hoping that the rumours of a new IM Melbourne in Feb 2012 come true, otherwise I'll see if I can get in IMOZ for 2012.

Sean, if you could beat 5 hours, that would be awesome mate!  I'll be happy with beating the time I did this year....   Well, and a bit more, but keeping that quiet Wink

Pressure is on for me now - thanks Sean I am struggling to think were the hell I could shave 13 minutes from last years time.

Well done for signing up via a wifi Jane - the half sold out in 3 minutes flat!!

So jealous that you are doing the full IM in 2011. Would love to have done it but I think I'll watch it from the side lines or I could have raced as a divorcee with 2 kids

Hope you all have a safe Xmas and lets use this forum for more training talk between us.

Cheers

OK, well, week 1 of 20 didn't kick off to good. Trust me to schedule it the week before xmas. Oh well.
Lost my helmet at Rockingham Tri, got it back today so keen to get back on the road real soon.
Bought myself a new Giros Ionos helmet (Just for racing) from the US, cost me $165 plus postage, got it in the Livestrong colours, better not lose this one!

Big weeks ahead with lots of hurt, the past month looks pitiful in comparison.

Well done Chocky - off to a good start given the temptations of the season !  My training starts today.  I'm afraid to say it out loud but I  am hoping to get under 5:30 this year.  What training program are you using?
Oh, and Jeff, which IM program did you use?
Cheers, Jane

Jane, if that's your goal, we should run round together........ I'd love to get close to 5:30 !

Well I have been competing in Triathlons since 1993 and have finished the Busselton Half the past 3 years. I have been a Triathlon coach for about 4 years so designed my own program to suit my own goals, weaknesses and so on. My only problem is getting motivated and fitting it all in with family time.

I wish everyone luck in whatever training program they undertake and if even though I am no expert I can offer advice, if you have a question please ask, I may be able to help.

Hi Jane,

I did a pretty hard out season this winter to get fast (check my logs) then I did a 12 week IM race specific program. Suited me really well as I work long hours and have a family too (and a small social life ). I used a mixture of Ironguides & Endurance Nation for swimming and running but I rode with a bunch of triathletes most other times so it was hard to stick to a cycling plan.

If you need any more info just let me know.

Hey guys! Just found this thread. I'm so pleased to be going back to Busselton even if its just part of a team this time! At least I can say I've done the full thing before.

I haven't really started an specific training yet, I am not feeling the pressure yet because I only have to cycle 90k and cycling is my strong leg. Saying that, I am aware I can't get too complacent or else I will regret it!!! My previous cycle time was just over 3 hours - something like 3 hours and 1 minute I can't remember exactly. So ideally I want to go less than 3 hours this time, maybe something like 2:50. But we'll see because I don't see myself being able to get up into the hills every weekend like I was able to before Jacob came along!!!

Anyway I plan to kick off the training with a 40-50k ride this weekend. I will just do one long ride every weekend and a shorter ride during the week until March, then kick it up to 3-4 rides per week.

How is everyone else's training going?

I would have said swimming was your strong leg as your always in the pool! ?Good to see you still participating after having Jacob.

I swim a lot but I am not especially fast. Sefton is very fast, he'll be able to do it in 30 mins or less, it would take me 40 mins or so. Our friend Anton is a strong/fast runner. So that just leaves me to do the cycle, I think 30 kmhr is a pretty decent average, so hopefully we'll be able to get an awesome team time! I am hoping we can manage 5hr - 5 1/2hr as a team.

Also, there is another Half Ironman race happening in WA in October. Heard it today. Not sure if it starts this year or next. Will be a good race to have in your diary as a lead up to IMWA in 2012 seeing it will be less than 3 months out.
