I was given the rudy project aero helmet and was wondering how good it was.  It does not go below or cover the ears.  Does this make a big difference?  Has anyone worn this helmet or would you pass and sell it on ebay?  Should I buy the Giro or the newer Louis Garneau?

As far as the aero helmet goes, they are all faster that non-aero.

Free is my favorite price, and the RP Helmets are very good.

Enjoy.

Yea that's true... and for all the talk about "free" speed around here, I think you've truly got it!

its position dependant...some work better then others depending on how you ride.

if it is the wingspan, i'd say keep it.  I have used my wingspan for the last 2 races and it works great.  I actually did a test on a loop that i often ride and was definitely faster with the aero helmet (http://transition-3.blogspot.com/2010/10/helmet-test-standard-vs-aero.html)

I agree that it sounds like the Syton Open. I've got the same one. Obviously, it isn't quite as aero as say the Wingspan, but it is fabulous for hot races. The lack of an ear cover really helps keep you cool.

Just leave your swim cap on if your ears slow you down that much.
