OMG I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT !!!!  Now to final zip tie and test  Works better if you put the magnet on the layer of spokes closer to the crank.

OUT STANDING! Congrats!

Yes, get the magnets as close to the sensor as you can without them touching.

GatorDeb - 2011-01-04 9:24 AM The dork disc has been there since 1999 when I bought the bike.... came with it lol.

Ok I think I'm just getting confused where these go.  And what the names are.

If I understand correctly each pair go attached together?

If I were having this much of an issue I would take my bike, sensor, all those mysterious pieces you keep asking about, tie wraps, and even those scissors if you want and head over to my LBS (local bike shop). Don't RUN though, unless you leave the scissors at home.

Have them install and watch what they do.  That way if you need to remove it for whatever reason you can get that bad boy on and off there in no time flat.  It really is a simple process once you are familiar with it.

You know though, she's trying and she's getting closer.  She wants to be able to do this herself and learn.  So we can either offer advise or ignore.  She already knows she can go to her LBS.  Trial by fire, sometimes the best way to learn.

Yep...don't disagree with you at all.  Instead of ignoring, I offered advice.  Learning by observation works too and can be less frustrating than "trial by fire."

Keeps going in and out in and out of alignment.  Suggestion on where to zip tie the crank, how close to the edge of the wheel?  And theres a little ridge on the crank, thats where the magnet should align to right?

There's a silver line in the crank magnet. There is a line in the sensor vertically in the round part. Those two lines should be as close to each other as possible when the crank is in that position.

It really doesn't matter how close to the outside of the wheel it is as long as both the crank magnet and the spoke magnet are picked up and neither interferes with anything else.

I had a hard time getting mine to stay in place properly on the crank with just the zip ties.  Ended up having to use a bit of clear tape to get it to stay in place.

Congrats on figuring it out.

Thanks so much for everyone that helped

I noticed my pedals are further towards the handlebars than in your pictures, might be a mountain bike thing, so my crank is pushed as far closer to the wheel rubber part as it goes, and then I push in the crank arm 4-5 clicks.  Works like a charm.

Anyone in Vegas wants me to install theirs, let me know
I wonder what that extra magnet belongs to .....

Ahhh! I used rubber cement. It comes off clean, is waterproof and is just sticky enough to keep things put together while you put the zip tie on and keep them there afterwords.

hum, good idea Daniel.  Mine moves a bit cause of the shape.  So I have to adjust it all the time.  Otherwise I keep hearing it hit the silly magnet.

Going to try and ask this here and see if anyone's still reading to see if I can avoid starting another thread

So now I can use my trainer !!!!   And I got on and I noticed I can't shift the 1-7 lower than 5.  The 1-3 goes to all 3 but the 1-7 will only go to 5 6 or 7.  Is this because of the trainer or did it break?  Thanks!

Are you talking about front and rear derailleurs?

Front gears and rear gears, in other words. 1-3 meaning front gears and 1-7 meaning rear gears?

5, 6, or 7. Are those the largest gears or smallest?

I don't know how to fix this I'm just curious if I'm reading what I think I'm reading.

I know downhill I go 3 7 to be able to pedal and uphill I go 1 1, so the lower the number the less resistance.
