I just received this quiet but powerful fan (moves 7700 cfm on high).  It is extremely rugged and looks cool.  I bought it at the following link and it is on sale for $129.99.  I have no interest in this product or the company that sells it.

I am just very happy with it and the result that I am staying super cool and avoiding the puddle of sweat under my bike.

Looks like you could do your own windtunnel testing with that fan.

I use one of these

I have two of these that I use for our race car. They blow air through the motor when the car is stopped. So I stole one out of the trailer and use it in the home gym. I've never had it higher than the first setting. The thing moves some air and is very compact compared to the big fan above. I think I got it at Home Depot.

What box fans are you getting at Walmart for $10?  The cheapest I saw there was $25.98 for a Lasko 20" box fan.  It does about 2,500 cfm so you would need 3 to equal the cfm of the AirFoxx 24" drum fan.  The noise level of these three fans would also be much higher than the AirFoxx... I compared the noise to the box fan we have and the AirFoxx is about the same noise as a single box fan but I don't have a decibel meter.

Wow...this isn't a contest.  We are not talking about a tri bike here You don't have to prove to me why your fan is better than mine.  All I'm saying is that I'm happy with the cheap $17 fan that I currently have.  Yeah, it was $17 bucks instead of 10.  I exaggerated a little I guess.  But the one I picked up was this one...on sale

A $10 fan (or even the $20 one in the link) will blow air at you.  But, it won't provide adequate cooling if you start doing any kind of hard intervals on your trainer.  The OP is correct that it requires an industrial-type solution.  That said, I get by with my $10 fan (it's old, so I'll plead inflation) since I'm cheap and my wife is unwilling to allow the kind of fan I would need in our finished basement.

I got a 18" commercial grade fan for Christmas for trainer rides. I'm not sure how much air it moves and I'm guessing it is smaller than yours.

When I run at the Y I only run on 1 of 2 treadmills as they have a nice big fan by them and it helps running on the TM not be so horrible when I keep cool.

I go with two smaller (16 or 18", not sure) fans and aim one at my torso and the other directly in my face - like at the tips of my aerobars.  It made such a difference when I discovered this!

I got an industial type one over 10 years ago from a tractor supply store, So the cost is much cheaper than what they are now and it was for a totally different purpose, but once I started on the trainer it's great.  the only drawback is the amount of stuff that gets blown all over the place.

My wife isn't thrilled with the bike and trainer or the fan in the finished basement!  But she is a runner and uses the treadmill!
