75F / 24C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 17m 53s
Overall Rank = 77/334
Age Group = F30-35
Age Group Rank = 3/21
Pre-race routine:

stayed at mom and dad's house. Ate toast and drank 1 cup coffee. Drove to race site
Event warmup:

walk around with dad, explaining transition and then short run up hill from swim exit to transition. Walked down to beach, got wet then entered swim corral.
Swim
  • 15m 39s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

felt good most of the swim. did really good with sighting and first time really got into drafting. probably could do more. Glad I put a piece of gum in mouth, trick dad taught me. It helped with the salt water scratchy throat issue.
What would you do differently?:

draft more.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

slower then wanted but still beat about 4 women out that entered before me
What would you do differently?:

body glide legs so suit comes off better
Bike
  • 34m 19s
  • 11.3 miles
  • 19.76 mile/hr
Comments:

felt good on the bike. might have been able to puch it slightly more. but felt good. ate one gu at 10 mins into bike. 1/2 bottle gu2o
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

flet that this was a good solid fast transition
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 23m 56s
  • 3.4 miles
  • 07m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

got a diaphram cramp at mile 1 which lasted the rest of the run. Not sure if it was due to the amount of gu2o I drank in first 500 yrds of run. but felt good otherwise, just couldn't pick up pace due to cramp.
What would you do differently?:

less gu2o between bike/run
Post race
Warm down:

walked back to end of beach to cheer on rest of family in the race (husband, sister, brother-in-law, father). Ate some melon, and ice cream

What limited your ability to perform faster:

cramp on run. otherwise felt really strong race for me.

Event comments:

really good event. a little pricey if you waited to register. but well organized and nice volunteers. I finished as the 6th woman overall and could not have asked for a better place then childhood home town area.

Great job Heidi.  That's pretty cool that you can race with your Dad. 6th overall women shows that your training is really going great.  You are going to kick some butt in Wisconsin
