I'm signed up. This will be my 4th year. Just saw the email that says it's at 85% full right now. If anybody else wants in, you should do so quickly.

I checked out the website and I don't see aflac mentioned on it as a sponsor or otherwise. I'm not sure if they are involved. Here is the website: http://www.irongirl.com/Events/Atlanta.htm#axzz1B96T2X1s

Hi Cindi - welcome! This will be my first tri ever. I'm excited and a little apprehensive. I am trying to talk my sister into doing it with me - she's a great swimmer, just started running recently, but I need to convince her to buy a bike!

You will find this tri very beginner friendly. Probably over half the field will be newbs as well. You will have a blast. Just make sure to practice swim in open water before race day. And ride some hills on your bike training. The course up there is fairly hilly and it takes some of the first timers off-guard if they didn't train for hills.

Interesting!  I never noticed but Aflac is not on the Irongirl Website.  They were the main sponsor in years past.  Does anyone know what happened with Aflac?  Part of the fun for me was all the "Aflac" stuff - the duck, etc.

The first year, Ryka was the main sponsor so it isn't anything new for them to go with a new sponsor.  Honestly, a women's fitness and casual clothing company (athleta) is probably going to benefit more from the sponsorship than an insurance company so they were probably willing to pay more as a result.
