Comments:

I decided to do this trail run series just to mix up my marathon training plan. We ended up having 5 members of the Live it Xtreme Team do the 13 miler, 1 in the 9 miler, 2 in the 4 miler. Nice turnout for the team. I wasnt sure how I would do because of the elevation and condition of the trails so I wanted to run avg 8:00/miles and finish around 1:45:00. Needless to say my marathon training plan is paying off! I did a poor job tying my left shoe and had to stop twice to ty it, 2nd time I just tied it in a big knot, the trails were in good shape and mostly frozen and I feel like I did a good job of just falling downhill and mountain goating up. Ended with a full sprint to finish.
What would you do differently?:

Cant think of any better way to open a season than with an age group win.
Post race
Warm down:

Coffee, cookies, tried to stay warm

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably just not having the experience to know if I would bonk or not

Event comments:

1st of 4 races in the Carolina Trail run series, looking foward to doing more. I feel at home on the trails

What an awesome performance! Not only doing a half marathon in this cold weather but doing in trails! Sounds like your marathon training is going great.  Are you doing the Quintiles marathon here at the beach (Wilmington)?

Congrats on the race! Very solid time out on those trails.

I was a few minutes back and the fact you held a 7min pace on those trails is impressive!

Not bad for a guy who just started running less then a year ago. Amazing Jon, awesome start to 2011...Now the bad news is I have bumped your marathon goal to 3:15 and a BQ What do you think.
