Do any of you know any marathon training sites that are as cool as this site?
I have been bragging to a friend about how cool this site is (logging miles and all) and he wants to know if there is one for marathon beginners.

It's not a marathon site, just a general running site, but coolrunning.com is a good site - similar to this one. It has a good tool for tracking running miles and mileage on your shoes. Hope this helps!

There are NO sites out there as cool as this one. Ron has cornered the market on cool.

I find the Runner's World forums helpful, even if they are just a tad snobby. They have separate forums for marathoners, beginners, and women, to get to the more specific issues of each group, among others:

Coolrunning.com

It is not as cool as BT...but what do you expect from single-minded athletes?

I came to BT from coolrunning.com. They have a good forum -- but not nearly as cool as this one! I liked their training log, at least the way it was when I was there last.

Runnersworld.com is probably the definitive guide for runners although coolrunning.com is very helpful too. I subscribe to the mag and find the online resources very helpful , especially when I started out running.

For tracking logs , I believe runnerworld.com does have something but apart from a 10-day free trial , you've got to pay
Despite the digs about runners , I found the journal to be a very helpful resource and very sophisticated . But then , RW is a fully commercial setup .

If you want a simple start and a slick website , check out http://www.myasics.nl/us
It creates a customized training plan for you based on start/finish date and can make your workouts strenuous or easy , as your schedule permits. Came in very handy for me.

why wouldn;t your friend just use this one? What more could he possibly need? (except a friend to get him a pair of goggles and a bike!)
