Subject: fair price for 07 specialized tarmac expert?
Anyone know if $1200 is a good asking price for a 2007 Specialized Tarmac Expert?  All ultegra components, all carbon.  Ridden mostly on an indoor trainer (with a different wheel and tire, the one being sold has never touched the trainer).  Seller is also including Garmin Edge 305.

Any thoughts?  I haven't been to see it in person yet, but i'll try it out for fit and look closely at it for any signs of wear&tear and so forth.  I would like to offer him $800, since I was initially hoping to get a bike and shoes for 700-900.  I figure this looks to be a quality deal that will last me many many years so I'm thinking if it looks good and fits nicely i'll offer 800-900 and bite the bullet and buy shoes on top of that.  Would $800 be too terribly low to offer?  Would $700 be a decent offer?  I've looked online for other similar sales and the prices seem to be quite varied.

For a full ultegra equipped model in very good shape I would say this is a good price. $800 is a really good deal. Throw in a garmin and I would say it is a great deal. Check the frame closely. Carbon is great but it can hide hidden damage. look for significant chips and ride it and listen for any creaking.

Tarmacs generally are solid roadies that hold their value pretty well.  If bike is in excellent shape & includes working Garmin 305, I would say $1200 is a good deal.  $800 would be SCREEMIN'

Thanks for the feedback!  I was excited about that bike since everyone who's ever been on a tarmac seems to love it.  I can't get ahold of him though, I left two messages in the past four days.  Apparently either he's not really that anxious to sell it or he let it go already and doesn't feel like returning my calls.

On the bright side, I'm going out for a test ride on a 2007 Giant Trinity A1 that was only used as a race bike so it's ultra-low milage for a 2007.  I was leaning towards getting a road bike, but with a nice tri bike offer I think I could change that plan.  He's asking $1300 for the bike which is mostly stock save a new saddle, new tires (specialized), and a cat eye.  I'll probably offer $1000 and try to keep it at that.
