Question for the wheel guys out there ......
"2010 Reynolds carbon attack clinchers. All come with shimano durace ace cassette. Tires are Schwalbe Ultremo's and in excellent shape. Rim depth is 32 mm. The best all around carbon clincher you can buy. Limited use ~ 2000km. wheelbag and skewers included."

Good deal at $750?

For that kind of money and that brand, get new ones. Also check out the 66mm Strikes. Got mine new for $800 about three weeks ago from an e-bay retailer. Don't be afraid to call them up and negotiate the price.

Of course the $750 you're looking at includes tires, wheel bag, etc... so there's some compromise with new, but the warranty alone may prove worth the money.

I recently did a bike review on a bike that came with Reynolds Assault wheels and had to do some research on the Reynolds wheels as a result.

I was impressed. The wheels were durable due to a slightly higher spoke count than some Zipp and HED models and were consistently less expensive. They seemed like more of an "everyday" wheel than a race day only wheel given the slightly higher spoke count.

Hubs were reasonable quality and simple in design. I'd expect few problems. The freehub body wasn't stellar but it isn't bad either.

In the marketplace there seems to be significant downward pricing pressure on these right now making it a buyer's market. Considering thay can be had for about one third the price of a premium Zipp Firecrest wheelset new, these represent a good value. There is a difference in performance between a $2700 wheelset (Zipp) and a $799 wheelset, but I'll suggest it may not be a $2000 difference for most of us....

So if this is American Idol for wheels, I'm going to channel Randy and say " You know dawg, I gotta be NO on this one".

I have a set of Reynolds DV3K clinchers on my road bike, which is a 46mm model with similar carbon layup as the Attack, Assault and Strike, but uses the DT Swiss 240s hub from the higher level MV32/DV46/SD66 line-up of Reynolds wheels. I love 'em. I ride 'em everywhere. Chipseal, cobblestone, gravelpack, commuting ... 20X24 spoke durability. Everywhere. I'm 175 pounds on my first set of all carbon hoops and I have absolutely stopped worrying about durability and reliability. I like them enough that I picked up a set of 1300 gram Reynolds MV32UL 32mm deep clinchers that I am going to put on my roadie, and move the 46mm over to my tri bike. I also have a Zipp 404 toroidal rear wheel ... 58mm deep 404s are damn good wheels ... slightly heavier but more aero (ie faster) than the 32 or 46mm deep Reynolds. I just like ride, speed, and feel of the 46mm DV3Ks better.

Regarding this deal on the Attacks .... I don't think 32mm is deep enough for triathlon. Conventional wisdom, backed up by data guru Dave Warden on Tri-talk, is that a deeper rim is faster, and 32 mm is not really "deep".  I'd get at least 46mm Assaults and probably recommend 66mm Strikes, except I can't personally get comfortable with 16X20 spokes that come on the Strikes. And I typically consider 50% of street price as a fair price for excellent-condition used bike gear ... so $550 seems like a "good deal" rather than $750, even with the cassette. I also would not by a used wheel I could not look at first ... but that's just me. Lots of people get great value from used online wheels.

The crazy low prices you see on Reynolds 2010 wheels is due to the new 2011 line up, which uses a slightly different cross section, although they are still a pretty narrow cross section, expecially compared to Zipps; and because the new 2011's use a different resin matrix which Reynolds reports runs cooler (lower temperature) under extreme heavy braking loads. I have not had a problem with heat build up on my 2009's, but this would be a good improvement.

Wow $790 new Daniel. Good find!! And $60 shipping to Canada. Seems likes a good deal doesn't it?

I bought a 2011 P2 and it came with some cheap Shimano r500's. I'm just looking to pick something up as a good everyday wheel.

Ride your Shimano wheels until they're nubs for training and save up for a set of race wheels. If you didn't have a good set of training wheels already or had broken one or both that would be a different story but if you've got those r500's why would you be looking for a training wheel set?
