Hey NOLA BT'ers.  I'm heading your way for the Mardi Gras marathon.  While there I want to get in a 4-5 hour bike ride and do some swimming.  I'm staying with relatives in the Lake View area.  I thought about riding out Lake Shore and doing the NO 70.3 course (or part of it).  Any other suggestions?

Also, any suggestions for a place to swim?  Is there a YMCA in NO?

The levee running along the mississippi river is a good long ride. Flat and smooth and a lot of bikers. Wind can be brutal though

Phoned a buddy of mine in NO.  He told me about the trail on the levee.  Loved it!  Rode to Laplace and back.  75 miles.  I was impressed.  And the car drivers were so polite.  Great ride.
