Yesterday was back to school here in Houston! One kid goes full day the other half day! I have a total of 3 hours every day to myself! This is soooooo wonderful. I can now relate to my mother's excitement at the start of every school year - and I thought it was for me starting a new year - little did I realize it was for her own peace and quiet time.

HALLELUJAH!  Of course, BTS isn't until next week here...just two more packed pool sessions to go!

On the other hand, I just realized that this means MORE cars on my normal bike routes, about the same time of day...dang it!

Less crowded pool -good

kids out of the house -good

school buses on the road - bad

PTO duties -bad

This will be the first time all of my kids are in school, although the youngest is only going 3 mornings a week.

I can't tell you how not-excited I am to have kids.  Not that I mind kids, I just like not having any.

I'm starting my Masters in the fall and, to be honest, I'm not looking forward to it as I know it's going to cut into my training! In fact, class in on Mon night so that already has an impact on my going on the Mon night BT OW group swim.

Back to school in the ATL means my daily commute just jumped from 45 minutes one-way to 1.5 hours one way. I miss summer.

Wait until they grow up and move out...it's like being reborn! I had to start doing triathlons just for something to occupy my time.

One of the things I DON'T miss since my kids went to live with their Dad is back-to-school shopping/registration etc.  Every year the kids got older it got more expensive.  That was a huge expense every year, at least $200 for clothes/supplies/registration fees etc.

I start my last year on the 22nd. I am surprisingly super excited. I think I am excited because 1. I know that all I have to do if pass a couple of classes and I'll have a BS in Accounting and 2. My hours at work are cut back down to part time which allows me a long Monday morning ride!!! Can't wait!!

Hold that thought. Tightly. With both hands. Make them pry it out of your cold, dead fingers.

What? People actually get a break from school!?!? Just finished summer term, I get a wonderful whole 2 weeks to recover before getting back at it again. I can't wait until I am no longer a GA and have a real 9 month contract position!
