I just got a snorkel, the Finish Center Mount Swimmer's Snorkel.

Other than not needing to breath to the side and just swimming straight to work on symmetry, what are some drills that I could do that would maximize the use of the snorkel?

Thanks!

EVF drill is one I was thinking of adding.  I believe there are a couple variations of this.

ah perfect! I forgot about skulling and catch drills. I always run out of air too fast and always have to lift myself to breath. Now I can concenrate fully on finding that catch!

reminds me of a basketball player asking how to practice without the need to dribble.

You mean something like practicing freethrows or catch and shoot drill?

Or set a pick... or work around a pick... or take a charge... or shooting 3 pointers...

After decades of swimming I just bought one. The reason I use one is simply to help me improve my head position. Practicing with a snorkel allows me to feel what it is like when I have my head down in the correct position.

you can practice any aspect of your stroke...not just with drills, but just by allowing yourself the mental concentration to dedicate to a singular item...correct cross over, improve splashfree entry, direct water behind you rather than to the sides, relax your hand, lead recovery with your elbow, rotate evenly to each side, drive the hip to drive body rotation, two beat kick focus, etc, etc,etc,etc,etctetctcttccc..............

Sorry to disagree with you, but there isn't a water toy in existence that cood help me achieve a splash free entry. That's like me doing a full catch up drill without fins, and expecting me to make forward progress.

Not sure what you're saying here or hinting at. I can show you lots of swimmers with lots of splash on entry who need to clean things up a bit. Striving for clean entry helps eliminate turbulence and waves...a source of drag. obviously at some point the upper arm has to entry the water and it may create some splash...easily seen in videos of our favorite elite swimmers. At at that point a high velocity entry will create more splash than a lower velocity entry. But most people can improve on this aspect of their stroke to a great degree.

Without seeing the OP swim, giving suggestions about things that MOST people have to work on seems like a reasonable suggestion. It's not the pool toy that helps (snorkel), it's the opportunity to have undivided concentration on one aspect of swimming.

That's funny, because your race logs tell a different story.
