Traveling down from MD to do this race.  Anyone have any information on past races?  Is the course as advertised or is it shorter or longer?  How are the staggered swim starts?  Thanks in advance for any input.

was like a 5 second delay for each swimmer. The course is pretty much on. the road surface was repaved so should be smoother now for the bike. the run is a combo of road and sidewalk thru campus- some hills...

Also there is a steep hill from the lake to T1. Really only 1 big hill on the run and an uphill finish. The roads for the bike have a few heavy traffic sections. Distances are correct. The repaved roads are a big plus. FS runs a good race.

Thanks for the information!  Was reading some of the older race reports and was curious about the bike course as many mentioned the potholes and other issues.  Really looking forward to getting down there and checking out the course, just worked out well as my in-laws live there.  Just hope I can ride outside here before then, trainer rides are starting to get a little boring.

Drop a PM when your coming down and I am sure we can put together a group to show you the course and do a ride.

That guy in the Yellow Jacket as you were coming out of the water between the 1:30 and 2:00 min. marks on the video looked like trouble, I here he is going to enter in it this year. Smile

I love that video. The funniest thing is Scottie is in a wetsuit and doesn't look overly warm, but there are two ladies in speedo's coming out just behind him. They do have a layer of insulation but still...

This was a practice wetsuit run pre- white lake HIM. The water temp was pretty warm that day. Air temp was chilly and yes, I'm a slow swimmer =(

Hello everyone,

This is going to be my first sprint tri! I am excited and nervous at the same time. I'm definitely an Athena, but since running and training I've lost 66 pounds! Any advice on this event?

Don't follow Scottie (halfpint) on the swim (see his video if you don't know what I mean) :-)

Seriously though, don't be afraid to ask questions the morning when you get there. I was so lost during my first race but some nice people helped me find my way.

That's what I'm afraid of -- getting lost in all of the confusion/adrenaline/craziness of the race! Don't worry, I'll ask lots of questions! Is the bike course hard? I notice it's pretty short.

No. There is some traffic, but the "hills are easy. Mostly highway overpasses. The last 1-2 miles is mostly downhill, except for a short .1-.2 mile uphill at the end. It is good for recovery for the run. The run is mostly flat with two hills. The first is the big one and the second is that same hill at the end of the bike.

With the re-paved roads it should be much nicer to ride this year. Relax, this is supposed to be fun!

It will be! And FSSeries runs a great event! The TT start to the swim is actually one of the features I liked best about this race. It is the only non-pool race I have done that did that.
