Subject: 1st Lunch Time Work-out!!!!

Did my 1st lunch run today!!! Made it out of the office with no one noticing. But everyone saw me come back in and gave me very puzzled looks and asked what I was doing.

Them: What you doing!?!?!?!?

Me: Training for a triathlon and need to be able to work out more.

Them: Why!?!?!?!

Me: Cause its fun

Them: Why!?!?!?!?!?

But it was fun, and I feel great!!!

Days I run at lunch, I generally have a more productive afternoon with twice the energy.

Lunch workouts are great. I did some swims during lunch last week and it seemed to take a whole lot of time pressure off the evenings.

Same here.  I have been doing the lunch time workout for two years now, leaving the cell phone behind.  Now people only ask me about it if they dont see me running while they go out to eat fast food. Laughing

You guys/gals must get a nice long lunch to workout during.  I'd love to be able to go for a run during lunch but I'd never have enough time to get a shower in post run and refuse to subject my colleagues to that torture

Welcome to the club, I agree with earlier posts that the break in the day really helps with my sanity and productivity. I sweat like crazy and we have no shower at work, however, I do sponge bath and have worked up quite the system to keep the smell down.

I was the only one in the office running during lunch when I started at this office. There are now 3 others than run and 2 that walk. The conversation has changed and people are much more upbeat.

Yeah it works pretty good. I live in Fresno, and work at a chemical fertilizer plant. So my run is down a nice road surrounded by orange groves and vineyards.

I have an hour for lunch. So I ran 2 miles, came back ate my sandwich cooled off. I'm not showering and just using baby wipes to clean up a bit. (Since I work at a plant that smells like sulfur most people won't notice if I smell a bit Cool)

As for energy I feel great. I normally dread the last couple hours of work, and today I feel fine and am getting a lot done.

I used to work across the street from a University with a great fitness center. I had an hour+ for lunch. Lunch workouts always made the afternoon much better. I just hope my next job allows for some lunch time fun.

I run at lunch couple times a week 3-4 miles. I do what I call a towel shower in the bathroom when I get back. I'm usually tired the rest of the day but I feel good about what I have done. I'm also going to try to bike to and from work one day this week and maybe a couple days next week, doing a hard ride on the way home.

Lunchtime workouts are the best!  They are a Coast Guard tradition (perhaps other services as well).  Added advantage in the northern winters is that you are always running in daylight - and usually have the warmest hours of the day!  I was lucky enough to have access to USCGA gym for 10 years after I retired from active duty.  Great pool and facilities, and excellent locker room to service the runs and the rides.

I just started working out at lunchtime about 6 weeks ago.  Usually around 3 times a week where I can get in a 4-5 mile run or a 40 minute or so swim workout.  By the time I shower and get back to work it ends up taking about 1:15, but I just make those extra minutes up staying the end of the day.  I too have noticed that I'm far more productive and energetic on the job in the afternoon after working out.

I just found out the hotel across the street from my office has a "pool only" fitness club membership for about $50/month. I'm going over today at noon to check it out, and if its decent, I'm signing up. Will let me do more bike/run in the AM, get in more swims during the week, and still keep evenings free. Could get in 30-40 min of good swimming every day at lunch if this pans out. fingers crossed!
