Ugh...can't believe it, but I can't make it today.  A last minute thing came up.  : (

Enjoy the day.  I'm sure I'll see most of you out at Island Lake this summer.  And I'll see a few of you at Hawk Island in two weeks.

So did this tri happen?  Who showed up?  How was it?  Are there pictures?

Come on people, I am an armchair triathlete, I need details!!!

I do have a picture on my phone and, showing my age, have no clue how to get it up here.  Looks like I need to get it on something like Flickr and then link.  Is there an easier way?

As for yesterday, that is was Spring weather is supposed to be!!!!!!  The water was fine, no pain involved and there were tons of fish crossing the weeds from the bench on the north side heading towards the shore the the swim area (we did swim in to some fishermen's bobbers).  Great ride and a hot run.  The dip in the lake after was outstanding as were the burger, beer and snacks!  To bad schedules did not work out for more folks to attend.

Can anyone who's looked at the "Official" Island Lake Oly bike course for this weekend comment on the terrain? I've never been to Island Lake and would like to know what "rolling hills" and "sweeping turns" means? Here in Macomb, the only hills are overpasses? Are the hills at Island Lake similar grade, just much longer, or are they really more substantial grade wise?

There are some pretty nice hills out there but none of them are very long. average climb for me is like 10-15 seconds on most hills. The Tri  this weekend omits the one large eotch of a hill at the 1/4 and 3/4 points of the oly bike course that actually goes around the parks namesake "island lake" If I remember correctly. There are some hills that you can reach around 30-35mph easily and a good majority of then aren't straight. I think that's what they mean by sweeping. I'm going to be out there on friday for early packet pick-up. If you plan on coming to early packet pick-up I'd be happy to show you the course.

Thanks for the offer :-

I live over an hour away and am doing the Oly for training purposes and experience rather than for time, so it is what it is. I'm doing packet pick-up on Sat. morning or I'd take you up on the course preview! Thanks again for the offer!

Still can't figure the #### picture out.  As for the bike course, the lot at the top of the hill past Kent Lake is a rough mess as you enter.  It has been bad in the past, but yesterday it was the worst I have seen it.  Enter tight right to avoid the pothole and loose gravel.  And, I tend to sissy out going under the train bridge on the out loop and come off the aero-bars.  That blind curve get me every time.

Haven't you seen the commercial with Mr. Peanut doing a tri?  You've got nothing to worry about ...
