Hello from Texas

3 months after having back surgery I've decided that training for my first triathlon is the best medicine. After reading and reading and reading all websites regarding triathlon (and loving this one from the very beginning) I jumped right into it and have been training for the past 4 weeks.

My first triathlon is circled on my calendar for next Spring ... but I'll enter some 5Ks and 10Ks and maybe a duathlon between now and then.

I've been a runner my entire life it seems. Bike is my second strength, but I'm learning a lot as I go and I join many of you and am having a hard time with the swim so far. I've got a coach who is teaching me proper form and technique and it's been a great help. Now, it's all about building up my strength and endurance after being out several months recovering from surgery.

Thanks for all the inspirational stories and insight everyone provides on this website. It's an invaluable tool for us newbies!

Good luck, back surgery sucks, haven't had it myself but a couple close freinds have and the PT and recovery is slow. Spring will come quick, kick some ass.

Thanks for the support ... so far so good with the training. I'm just taking it slow and easy for right now and will get after it in a month or two. In the meantime, I'll be an avid reader of BT and learn from all of you.
